This building was the main office for the Burden Iron Works. The iron works is long gone, but you can view a full set of exhibits about the area’s industrial heritage at the Burden Iron Works Museum. Several large items are located outdoors, including two ladle cars. The ladle cars were used to transport and pour molten iron. Burden became famous with an automated machine capable of making horse blanks one every second in 1851 as well as a machine designed to make railroad spikes.
